1 stabbed, 2nd boy charged in school knifing incident

BUCKFIELD – A juvenile is being charged with aggravated reckless conduct and aggravated assault after a mishap with a knife in the Buckfield Junior/Senior High School parking lot after school on Jan. 10.

School Principal Donald J. Reiter said two boys, both under 18, were playing in the parking lot and one was showing off a knife. Things got out of control.

The victim was stabbed in the hand and required stitches, Oxford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy William Nelson said.

The juvenile charged was released to his parents. He was suspended from school for 10 days, Reiter said, and will be up for an expulsion hearing in February.

According to school policy, weapons such as knives are not allowed on school property.
