DENMARK — The Denmark Arts Center will present “The 100 Year Old Man,” the highest-grossing film in Swedish history, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23. The Maine premiere of the film, which plays like a Scandinavian “Forest Gump,” is the finale for the series “Films for Young and Old.”

“The 100 Year Old Man”traces the life of the title centenarian, also known as Allan Karlsson, through the ups and downs of the 20th century. It’s based on Jonas Jonasson’s international bestseller of the same name.

The film is for ages 10 and older.

After the showing, there will be a discussion on the pros and cons of assisted living led by long-term care expect Philip DuBois.
