25th anniversary celebrated


LEWISTON – Jim and Diane Whalen of Lewiston, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Aug. 19. The day was planned and hosted by their two daughters, Ashley and Allison, and they were assisted by their grandmother, Jeannette Blais.

It began with a limousine ride for the couple to the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport for a champagne lunch, followed by a ride home and surprise reception with more than 60 family members and friends attending from New York, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and several towns and cities in Maine.

They received many cards, flowers and gifts. Tammy Putnam, a wedding attendant, made a tiered anniversary cake adorned with the same ceramic bride and bridegroom as their original wedding cake. A toast was made in their honor by Michael E. Whalen, their best man. Other attendants present were Michael P. Blais and Ronald Charpentier Jr.

Mr. Whalen and the former Diane Blais were married on Aug. 22, 1981, at Holy Family Church in Lewiston. They reside at 25 Hillview Lane in Lewiston.

Mr. Whalen is employed as showroom manager at Redlon and Johnson in Portland. Mrs. Whalen is a second-grade teacher at Sabattus Primary School in Sabattus.
