FALMOUTH, Mass. — Ada B. Bates, 95, died at the Royal Nursing Center on April 21.
She was born on July 26, 1914, in Sumner, daughter of Edwin and Catherine Bonney. She was married for 68 years to Edwin H. Bates, who predeceased her in 2007.
She and Edwin lived in South Paris, until 1946, when they moved to Orono, where they lived until Edwin retired in 1979, and then lived in Sarasota, Fla., until 2005, when they moved to Falmouth, Mass.
She was involved in volunteering in many community and church activities while living in Orono. She helped with a dental clinic for disadvantaged children and was a volunteer driver for the program.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Jane and Thomas Churchill of Manomet, Mass., and Nancy and Robert Dimitri of Sandwich, Mass.; four granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Earl Bonney; and a sister, Helen Bonney.
