LEWISTON — Advocates for Children will offer the following parenting classes during May:
“Parenting 101, Good Discipline, Good Kids,” Monday, May 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Parents will learn how to engage cooperation, effectively set rules and expectations, how to problem solve, alternatives to punishment, accept and respect children’s feelings and manage anger. Registration is required. The fee is $5. Recommended for parents with children ages 5 to 12.
“Parenting 201, Keeping Peace at Home,” Monday, May 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Parents will learn why conflict occurs, how to prevent it and how to reach a peaceful resolution. Registration is required. The fee is $5. Recommended for parents with children ages 5 to 12.
“1,2,3,4 Parents!” is a three-week program for parents with children ages one to four. Parents will learn discipline methods that work, how to prevent tantrums and routines to make life easier. Classes will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, May 13, 20 and 27. Cost is $15 and includes a handbook. Registration is required.
