LEWISTON – Albert Edward Marcotte passed away peacefully at his home on April 14, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on College Road in Lewiston on July 18, 1914, the son of Florida Lacroix and George Emile Marcotte. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1935, and spent his entire life in the pursuit of knowledge.

On Sept. 16, 1940, he married Edna Phenix, his best friend and sweetheart for life. Their great love for each other served as a model for their entire family. They had three children together and lovingly raised them in Lewiston/Auburn.

He served his country during World War II as a welding supervisor at the Bath Shipyard. He subsequently worked at the Prudential Insurance Co. for 35 years until his retirement in 1977. As an insurance agent, he took great pride in caring for his clients, getting to know most of them personally.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a communicant of Saints Peter and Paul Basilica of Lewiston.

His passions in life were his wife and family. He especially enjoyed spending time at his camp in Sabattus, which he built with his family. He loved nature with a special fondness for birds. He cared for the family horse, Chiquita for 29 years at their College Street home.

Those who loved him, knew him to be an outgoing, wise and humorous man. He was very close to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite parting advice to people was to “stay loose.”

Marcotte of Bangor; nine grandchildren, Melinda Marcotte and her partner, Wayne Sidur, Richard Marcotte, Lisa and her husband, Chris DiMarzio, Amy Marcotte and her partner, Martha Bowman, James and his wife, Laurie Marcotte, Elizabeth Marcotte, Jonathan and his wife, Danielle Hamann, Matthew Hamann and his fianc, Sara Green and Katherine and her husband, Ryan Greenlaw; and 10 great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jonathan, Sarah, Thomas, Julia, Sydney, Denver, Slater, Benjamin, and Brayden.
