1933 – 2014
LEWISTON — Albert T. Spugnardi, 81, formerly of 487 College St., Lewiston, died Monday, Oct. 20, at Montello Manor nursing home, where he had been a resident for the past six years.
Born in Lewiston on Jan. 29, 1933, he was a son of Joseph and Eldora Lotti Spugnardi. He was educated at St. Joseph’s School and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955, and on July 19, 1952, he married the former Marianna King.
After his discharge from the service, he went to work as a route salesman for Snow’s Tire Co. He worked for several area tire companies, until his retirement in 2006.
He was a very active member of the former St. Joseph’s Church, serving at times as an altar server, usher and collector, and in his younger years was also active in the United Commercial Travelers, the Sons of Italy, Blue Devils Booster Club and Elliott Little League.
Besides his loving wife of Auburn, he is survived by four sons, Ted and wife, Donna, of Lewiston, Dale and wife, Miscerene, of Cumberland, Dino and wife, Lynne, of Falmouth and Jamie and wife, Darlene, of Groveland, Mass.; a daughter, Linda and husband, Gile Courtemanche, of Greene; a brother, Louis, of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Stacey, Jason, Rico, Mia, Kim, Julia, Sam, Jack and Bode; and eight great-grandchildren, Helena, Eamon, James, Anna, Kayla, Jacob, Lucas and Tyler.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Donald; a sister, Bruna Austin; and twin great-grandsons, Erik and Michael.
The family would like to thank the staff at Montello Manor for the loving care, grace and humor they shared with Albert over the past six years. The family would also like to especially thank Dave Case for his lifelong friendship with “Spug,” our father.
