Alice L. Thibodeau
1920 – 2010
AUBURN — Alice L. Thibodeau, 89, of Schooner Estates, Auburn, died Tuesday, March 9, at the Hospice House.
She was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Newburyport, Mass., the daughter of Armand and Emilina Couture Dufresne. She attended Auburn schools and graduated from Acme Business College. She worked at Lown Shoe as a secretary, until she met and married her husband, of 57 years, Lorn Thibodeau. She worked at Raytheon, RCA and retired in 1985 after working 20 years for her brother, ME Supreme Court Chief Justice Armand Dufresne.
She loved dancing, large family meals, knitting, sewing, canning pickles and to play Triominos with her grandchildren. She also loved to have the family and grandchildren for the weekend and to go camping, where she spent 29 years at their campsite on Tacoma Lake.
She is survived by her brother, Emile Dufresne of Buckley, Mich.; sisters, Florida Sasseville of Lewiston and Bernadette Stuart of Rochester, N.H.; a daughter, Ann Marie and her husband, Raymond Dionne, of Lewiston; sons, Larry Thibodeau and his wife, Diane, of Amherst, N.H., and Roger Thibodeau and his wife, Nancy, of Charlestown, N.H.; six grandchildren, Jason Dionne of Auburn, Kevin Thibodeau and fiancé, Brooke Streeter, of Bedford, N.H., Veronica Thibodeau Carter of Northwood, N.H., Jennifer Thibodeau of Fall River, Mass., Nicholas Thibodeau of Redlands, Calif., and Melissa Thibodeau Rouette of Riverside, R.I.; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Daniel Rouette and Noah Andrew Thibodeau, and soon to be two new arrivals.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lorn Thibodeau; sisters, Theresa and Lucy; and brothers, George, Rudy, and Philip.
A special thank-you to the Schooner staff, where she lived for about 2½ years, her private care givers (angels) that treated her with such dignity and gave her the care that she so loved and deserved and the wonderful staff at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. She and her beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her.
