LEWISTON — Alice Emily McIntosh Ricker, 99, of Lisbon died on Thursday, March 11, at Marshwood Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 28, 1911, the daughter of Eugene C. and Methyl Estes McIntosh. The family lived in Pine Grove Park in Lisbon Falls for many years, and she graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1928.

She married Howard Ricker of Lisbon in 1929, and they operated Ricker’s Dairy Farm. She was a supportive and frugal farm wife for many years. She was a life-long member of the Lisbon Methodist Church, and was also an 80-year member of the Grange, holding several local, county and state offices in the Patrons of Husbandry.

She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She was a piano teacher for a number of years. She was also very proud of her Irish heritage. She also enjoyed cooking and developing her own recipes. As a cook, she worked at the Lamp Nursing Home and also for her son’s business, Ricker’s Vending Service.

She is survived by three sons, Merton of Lisbon, Wayne and his wife, Shirley, of Lisbon and Verne and his wife, Sally, of Herrin, Ill.; six granddaughters; one grandson; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard, who was for many years the chief of the Lisbon Fire Department; and a brother, Burton McIntosh.
