LEWISTON— The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society has announced that shelter hours have changed to better serve the public and the animals in which they care for.
The shelter will be open weekends, closing on Wednesdays to visitors. The new operating hours are as follows: from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. Sunday.
On Wednesdays the shelter will be closed to visitors, however it will be available to accept stray, surrendered and abandoned animals between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society provides a safe haven for more than 5,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area each year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens.
