Anna Elizabeth Sparks


NEW SHARON – Anna Elizabeth Sparks, 87, of New Sharon died Monday, May 15, at Sandy River Nursing Care Center in Farmington, after a long illness.

She was born in Maryland, the daughter of the late Hezekiah Nicholas Steele and Minnie Ray Lambert Steele.

Anna was the wife of the late Charles Emory Greenholtz and the late Joseph Milton Sparks. She loved quilting, reading, gardening and most of all her family.

Anna is survived by five sons; Bobby Steele and wife, Phyllis, of Ticonderoga, N.Y., Charles Greenholtz and wife, Myrtle, of Forest City, N.C., Orville Greenholtz and wife, Muriel, of Buda, Texas, Howard Greenholtz and wife, Cheryl, of Warrensburg, N.Y., and Joseph Sparks and his wife, Barbara, of Tarboro, N.C.; three daughters, Catherine Morehouse and husband, Leslie, of Brant Lake, N.Y., Hazel Rebello and husband, William, of Fort Edwards, N.Y., and Judith Spaulding and husband, Frank, of New Sharon; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Anna was predeceased by two husbands, Charles Emory Greenholtz and Joseph Milton Sparks; one daughter, Brenda Louise Greenholtz; two brothers, Hezekiah N. Steele Jr. and Carroll W. Steele; and three sisters, Viola Harmon, Louise Albaugh and Helen Otto.
