PRESQUE ISLE — Anna May Bishop, 89, passed away Saturday, May 22, with family at her side.
She was born May 6, 1921, in Grand Falls, Neb., daughter of George and Elizabeth (Kavanaugh) Gillespie. She graduated from Verdun Hospital School of Nursing in Montreal. She married Lewis F. Bishop of Presque Isle on Jan. 13, 1945.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by four daughters, Gail Vreeland of Presque Isle, Sharon Fritz of Jupiter, Fla., Patricia Crawford of Palm Beach, Fla., and Carmen Haggerty of Auburn; seven sons, Kevin of Cape Elizabeth, Greg of South Portland, Peter of Old Orchard Beach, Matt of Portland, Kent of San Francisco, Robert of Henderson, Nev., and Stephen of New Port Ritchie, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; siblings Edward Gillespie of Presque Isle, Stephen Gillespie of London, Ontario, Joan Tweedie of Westfield, Mary Hunter of Scarborough, Anne Schopf of New Brunswick, N.J., Marie Finlayson of Ancaster, Ontario, Bertha Kuntz of Red Deer, Alberta, and Agnes Rosteski of Birch River, Manitoba.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Bernard, John, Earlin and Joe Gillespie; a sister, Rita Sullivan; a daughter, Christine; and her husband, Lewis.
