BRIDGTON — Bridgton Hospital will host its annual “Everyday in a Woman’s Life” Health Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5.
Pamela Smith, director of community relations and development, said the event “will be the biggest and best so far. This fair has become a yearly centerpiece of outreach efforts to women in our community, raising awareness of their health care needs, of course, but at the same time making the day fun with massages, paraffin hand waxes, demonstrations of watercolor painting and the sale of jewelry, including Kazuri Beads and Java Jewels, which support the FairTrade Women’s Coop in Kenya and Bali, and Silpada Designs, who will offer sterling and natural gemstone jewelry, with a percentage of sales benefiting Bridgton Hospital.”
She said, “The event has continued to grow, and in 2010 the hospital will utilize both the clinic and main lobby and will offer an array of fascinating break-out lectures.”
Speaker sessions will be offered every half hour starting at 9. Speakers and topics include:
9 a.m., “Osteoporosis – Not Bad to the Bones,” Nancy Rich, Ph.D., P.T.; 9:30, “This Shouldn’t Be Happening — An introduction to the works of Byron Katie,” Jen Deraspe, MS; 10, “It’s summer! Let’s bake our bodies in the sun…hmmm, maybe not?” Chriss Hayden, BSCHE, Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing.
Also, 10:30 a.m., “Mediterranean Cooking and Menu Planning 101,” Linda Russell, RD/LD, Bridgton Hospital dietitian, and Carol Miller, dietary manager; 11:30, “Attracting Birds and Butterflies to your Summer Landscape,” Bobbi Yale, master gardener.
