Anonymous donor gives $700,000 to spruce up Dublin Town Hall

DUBLIN, N.H. (AP) – Who donated $700,000 to spruce up Town Hall?

The name of the anonymous donor may never be known, but Dublin selectmen are certain of one thing. They say the donation is a gift of a lifetime that will help preserve the building for future generations.

Selectman Joe Cavanaugh said the donor first approached the town in April and offered to pay for half of the cost of developing a master plan to renovate the 125-year-old building.

But before anything can happen, the town must decide whether to accept the gift. A public hearing on the matter is planned for Wednesday evening. The selectmen also have to submit a warrant article so the town can vote on the donation.

If all goes well, work is expected to begin this summer.
