FARMINGTON — Anstiss Morrill of Farmington Falls will be the SugarWood Gallery’s featured Artist of the Month in June. An open house reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 4, and again from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 5. The public is invited and refreshments will be available.
Morrill’s work varies from impressionistic landscapes to abstract but evocative pieces. She feels that painting can be like fiction writing or dreaming: it may take elements from true life and combine them in different ways. She likes to be surprised by what images reveal themselves when her hand connects with brush, paint and paper.
Five of her paintings were part of a show at the Robert Bly Conference in 2009. Various pieces have appeared in two shows at the Turner Art Gallery. She is grateful to Marni Lawson for giving her a jump start several years ago.
SugarWood Gallery is located at 248 Broadway. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
