Anti-War Vigil

“Our message is that we’d like this war to end,” said Renee Cote, right, who gathered with others to commemorate the 3,000 service men and women who gave their lives in Iraq. “It could be summed up by, ‘Not one more dollar, not one more death.'” The vigil was a national effort organized via e-mail by American Friends Service Committee, a humanitarian and relief organization founded by the Quakers. Many people gathered New Year’s Day, the day after the 3,000th death, but the miserable weather kept Mainers at bay.
