Appalachian hike focus of talk


POLAND — Madelyn Given is a wife, mother, runner, mountain climber, hiker and Poland neighbor. She will be the featured speaker at the Poland Person to Person potluck supper on Sunday, April 11. She will talk about her hike along the 2,175 mile long Appalachian Trail, which began in Georgia on March 27, 2009. On Aug. 7, she reached the top of Mt. Katahdin.

Given will discuss the challenges, scenery, wildlife and interesting people she encountered during this adventure.

Person to Person potluck suppers are held each month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ricker Library. Attendees are asked to bring a casserole, salad or dessert to share.
