LePage names bipartisan Maine budget team

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine Gov.-elect Paul LePage has announced a bipartisan team of advisers who will fashion a two-year state budget that closes a widening gap between anticipated revenues and expenses.

In a State House news conference Tuesday, the Republican said he's taking a step toward keeping a campaign promise to deliver a more efficient, job-friendly government.

The team's newly appointed leader, outgoing state Rep. Sawin Millett of Waterford, will get a head start on assembling a spending blueprint that closes a gap that's growing from $1 billion to $1.2 billion. Millett is a former finance and education commissioner.

The 10-member team also included former prominent lawmakers from both parties.

Voisine, comments like yours

Voisine, comments like yours are why people no longer believe democrats and pay little attention to you...its nothing more than an offbase remark with nothing to back it up. Look at campaign reports from past elections and you'll find people on this group who heavily supported Baldacci, you'll find people who worked in the Baldacci administration and others who are not Republicans. What you will find is a group of people who want to move this state forward and will serve at the request of the incoming governor regardless of party affiliation. For that reason alone, we should allow the process to work and praise the fact that lePage kept his word on this issue out of the gate. Like it or not, you must agree he is trying which is more than can be said in the past - and he wishess to do it without gimmicks or furloughs to employees.

A Bitter "Harvest" to Come

Let's see, how do they figure this is "bipartisan." Oh, I get it ... Bipartisan for Repulicans means allowing Democrats to eat leftovers after the press conference. Republicans are a plague upon America. All those tar paper shack dwelling "country folk" who rely on the programs that LePage and Republicans will cut shouldn't express shock. You reap whast you sow and putting Republicans in power reaps a bitter harvest ... always.
