AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Undaunted by the snowstorm, Maine legislators are embarking on a three-day bus tour to learn more about what makes the state's economy tick.
The tour that started Wednesday will take participating lawmakers to Thomaston, Bucksport and Ellsworth the first day, to Bar Harbor and other Down East points Thursday, and back to the University of Maine at Orono and Waterville on Friday before returning to the State House.
Maine Maritime Academy, Jackson Laboratory and an Eastport tidal power facility are among the destinations on the tour.
The nonpartisan, nonprofit Maine Development Foundation was created to promote the state's economy. Funding comes from a variety of sources including private contributions, foundations and state government contracts.
