Arboretum announces nature walk, fundraiser


AUGUSTA – A winter nature walk/snowshoe will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Pine Tree State Arboretum, 153 Hospital St.

Participants will learn basic track shapes, sizes and patterns and look for tracks and signs of the animals that stay active during the winter. Bring snowshoes or rent a pair from the arboretum. Preregistration is required, and it is $5 for members; $10 for nonmembers.

A Super Sunday Table Tour will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Arboretum.

Those attending can tour the trails on ski, snowshoe or foot and sample appetizers, soups, chili, sandwiches and desserts donated by area restaurants and organizations. There will be a raffle and silent auction of donated items as well.

Preregistration is recommended. Tickets in advance are $15; day of the event, $20; $5 discount for members; children 12 and under, $5. Ski and snowshoe rentals will be available.
