RUMFORD — Nat Crocker converted a pass from Ryan Sinclair with 1:25 left in regulation to give Hall-Dale a 1-0 win over Mountain Valley in a Class C West boys’ soccer semifinal Friday.

The Bulldogs had just defeated the Falcons on Saturday for the Mountain Valley Conference championship in penalty kicks.

The game-winning goal came on a counterattack by the Bulldogs after the Falcons had produced numerous scoring chances at the other end. It was the first time Mountain Valley was shutout this season.

The Falcons ended their season at 14-1-1, ending their most successful season in decades. Mountain Valley’s last unbeaten regular season was in 1995 when the team went 10-0-2 and was the top seed in Western B. The Falcons lost to Marshwood in the regional final. The year before that, Mountain Valley finished 12-0 and was No. 1 but lost in the quarterfinals to Lincoln Academy.
