Arlene E. Karkos


FARMINGTON – Arlene E. Karkos, 90, of Jay, died Wednesday, May 10, at the Sandy River Center for Healthcare and Rehabilitation, after a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Livermore, a daughter of Ozem and Hattie (Mackay) Wagner. She attended schools in Livermore Falls and graduated in 1932 from Livermore Falls High School.

In August 1935, she was married to Floyd Karkos of Dryden, where they lived their married life. After Floyd’s death, she moved to Oak Street, Jay, where she has lived for 15 years.

She is survived by three sisters, Edith Preston and Doris Chandler, both of Jay and Donna Lee and her husband, Lawrence, of Weld; three sisters-in-law, Naomi Wagner of Auburn, Priscilla Karkos of Dover, N.H. and Betty Karkos of Wilton; a brother-in-law, Merton Karkos of Temple and SRNCC, Farmington; and many nieces and nephews that gave her much joy with visits and phone calls.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Howard, Josh, Clarence, Wilfred and Arthur; and sisters; Carrie, Lottie and Ruth.
