POLAND – Members of Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America, will hold their annual summer outing on Wednesday, July 25, at the Hutchinson camp on Tripp Lake. Social time will begin at 4 p.m. and dinner, consisting of lobsters and clams or chicken, will be served at 5 p.m. Members are to bring their own chairs and drinks and a dessert to share. LEWISTON – A composting workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Franklin Pasture Community Garden, corner of Jefferson and Birch streets between Lewiston High School and the Multi-Purpose Center.

Since 1999, Lots to Gardens has worked toward a sustainable food system by creating fair access to food and strengthening local leadership of youth and adults. It is a youth- and community-based organization, sponsored by Sisters of Charity Health System.
LEWISTON – Maine Music Society Artistic Director John Corrie has announced there will be an open rehearsal of the Androscoggin Chorale at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 169 Pleasant St. The rehearsal will be open to anyone interested in singing and will last two hours. Music will be provided.
The Maine Music Society will present a series of concerts in Lewiston/Auburn during the 2007-2008 season, including orchestral and choral music performed by the Maine Chamber Ensemble and the Androscoggin Chorale. For details and season ticket information, call the MMS office at 782-1403.
AUBURN – Blanche Clavet celebrated her 89th birthday on July 3. She celebrated with family and friends at a barbecue at home. She was featured in Sun Spots last year asking for people to write to her to keep her from being lonely after losing her husband of 65 years. LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on July 17 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: first, David Lock and Fred Fosnacht; second, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau; third, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Patricia Smith and Shirley West.
Flight B winners were: first, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau; second, Richard Allen and Richard Balian. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the center.
The club also met on July 18 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Michael and Patricia Quinn; second, Claire Lyons and Mary Leahey; third, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Larry Fortier and Anna Vitiello.
Winners in Flight B were Richard Balian and Marta Clements. Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed at both games.
