Sodality banquet

LEWISTON – The Queen’s Guild Sodality of St. Joseph’s Church will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in the church hall. Reservations for the banquet on May 18 may be made at the meeting.

Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – Members of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, May 4, at the Ramada Inn. They will hear a presentation by member Rotarian Tom Knight about his collection of tractors.

Knight has been an active Rotarian for more than 30 years. After working in the Accounting and Finance Department at the former Union Camp (now International Paper) for 40 years, Knight retired in 1999. A native of Exeter, N.H., he makes his home in Norway with his wife of 10 years. Knight has four grown children and three grandchildren.

Cemetery meeting

POLAND – The annual meeting of the directors and officers of the Pine Grove Cemetery Corp. of Poland will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, in the parish room of the Poland Community Church. All lot owners are members of the corporation and are encouraged to attend.

Chapter Martel

AUBURN – Chapter Martel of Association Canado-Americaine will hold its last meeting of the season on Monday, May 8, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, 775 Washington St. North.

The meal will be at noon will be followed by installation of officers. Gilberte Baril will preside over her last monthly meeting and is soliciting all active members to attend.

Lodge meeting

AUBURN – Ancient Brothers Lodge 178, AF and AM, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:15 p.m. All Masonic members are welcome.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on May 1 were: first, Renette and Joe Reinhardt; second, Dick Allen and Richard Balian; third, Roger Briggs and Bob Berry; fourth, Helen Little and Alberta Turner; fifth, Lue Bilodeau and Luke Merry; second in B, Nancy Farmer and Paul Beegel; first in C, Marlene and Conrad Violette; second in C, Claire Tewhey and Charles Bartlett.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays, a mini-lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for more information.
