Teen adoptees

BOWDOINHAM – Teen Adoptees Support Group, ages 11 to 14, will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, May 4, 11, 18 and 25, at the Bowdoinham Town Office Building, School Street. A Parent’s Support Group will run concurrently in an adjoining room. Groups will be led by Katie Campbell, LCSW, and Kate Cutko, LMSW. RSVP to MAPS at 772-3678.

Rosary procession

LEWISTON – The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul will host a rosary procession at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7. All are requested to gather in the church garden to process to the upper church. There will be recitation of the Rosary, litany, crowning of Mary’s statue and a short reflection by the Rev. Robert D. Lariviere.

The procession is to honor Mary, the mother of the resurrected Christ. A box will be available to deposit prayer requests as well as vases for those who would like to bring a flower. In case of rain, the procession will form in the vestibule of the upper church.

Movie on Lisbon

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Historical Society will host native Ronald Huston, who will show a CD movie about life in Lisbon between 1941 and 1960, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10. His uncle, Russ Huston, took the 35mm movie at various times and of various events and Ron had it made into a CD.

The public is welcome to the free showing. People will be invited to comment while the movie is showing and perhaps identify some who are currently unknown in the film.

Those attending should use the society’s entrance at the rear of MTM Center, School Street.


Grange meeting

POLAND – Excelsior Grange will host an open meeting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the hall at 446 Harris Hill Rd. The special meeting is to honor the people who worked at the food bank and thrift shop operated by the Poland Community Church.

Many families in the area depend on the service, which is available every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Several members of the church, with the assistance of interested community members, contribute hundreds of hours annually to keep the project going. A recent fair was held to raise money to match a $500 challenge from the Good Shepherd Food-Bank in Auburn, and more than $1,000 was added to the funds.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on April 25 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Nancy Lindgren and Leslie Buzzell; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds; third, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; fourth, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner.

Flight B winners were: first, Ron and Connie Reynolds; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner. Flight C winners were Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, at the Multi-Purpose Center.

The club also met on April 26 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Flight A winners were: first, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; second, Rosemarie Goodwin and Paul Barber; third, Martine Begert and Patricia Garcia; fourth, Mary Leahey and Nancy Lindgren. Winners in Flight B were: first, Ron and Connie Reynolds; second, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau.

Winners in Flight C were Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau. Another game will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed. For more information, call Lucille Theriault at 783-0431.
