LEWISTON — L/A Arts will host a Drawing Workshop, taught by artist Vincent Myrand, from Friday to Sunday, June 25 to 27, at the DownStage.
Participants in the workshop will work with a variety of drawing materials and will investigate the effects of dark to light, techniques of life drawing and location sketching. The workshop is suitable for all levels of experience.
The workshop will begin on Friday with a two hour slot, from 6 to 8 p.m., set aside to get to know fellow participants and the instructor as well as a chance to learn what to expect from the workshop. Art examples will also be reviewed at this time.
On Saturday and Sunday, the day will begin at 9 a.m., with studio work each morning, a break for lunch, then a jaunt on foot to do some location sketching. Participants will then return to the DownStage for end of day wrap-ups. The day will end at 4 p.m.
Myrand is a seasoned artist with more than 18 years of hands-on art experience, including a tour of Italy and time spent at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. A Lewiston native and a resident artist of Captive Elements Art House, he is invested in the community and looks forward to sharing his knowledge and exploring the area, through an artistic perspective, with participants.
Participation fee for the Drawing Workshop is $130 each person. For more information or to register, visit www.laarts.org or call L/A Arts at 782-7228. The workshop requires a minimum of eight students to sign up and is restricted to a maximum of 15.
