Auburn artist to exhibit in Farmington

FARMINGTON — Irene Duplissis of Auburn will be SugarWood Gallery’s featured Artist of the Month in April. An open house reception is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 2, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 3. Refreshments will be available.

“Rustic realism” are the best words to describe Duplissis’ style of transparent watercolor. Most of her subjects are characteristics of the New England states, past and present.

Duplissis has been a professional artist for many years. Her interest began at age 9 while in private elementary school in the Lewiston-Auburn area under the tutelage of French nuns.

She has exhibited extensively and her work can be found in various galleries and private collections throughout the United States and abroad. She is devoting most of her time to teaching art in the local area and doing workshops.

SugarWood Gallery is located at 248 Broadway and hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
