Auburn crash victim still ‘critical’

AUBURN – An Auburn woman remained in critical condition at a Portland hospital Tuesday a day after she was hurt in a three-vehicle crash on Route 4.

Elizabeth Shepard, 47, was being treated at Maine Medical Center for injuries suffered in the 7:15 a.m. collision.

The driver of a second car, 24-year-old Laura Wyman, of North Yarmouth was being treated at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. At the request of Wyman’s family, hospital officials did not release information about her condition. On Monday night, Wyman had been listed in critical condition.

The crash was still being investigated by Auburn and Maine State Police. Investigators said Wyman and Shepard were driving in opposite directions on Route 4 when they crashed.

The driver of a third vehicle involved in the collision, Nicola Salvati, 52, of Livermore was not seriously hurt.
