AUBURN — Four firefighters have successfully completed their one-year probationary periods. They are, according to Acting Chief Mike Minkowsky, firefighters William Flanders, Christopher Poremby, Joshua Harris and Kyle Wescott.
Firefighters must successfully pass written and practical exams as well as complete extensive training over the course of the year. According to Minkowsky, the four firefighters were part of the first group of recruits to go through a new probationary process.
The recently instituted process is divided into monthly skills assessments incorporating competency tests at six-month intervals. The probationary process was rebuilt by Capts. Don Flanagan and Dave Richard to make the process more comprehensive.
“We are confident our recruits will be well-prepared to serve the Auburn community when completed,” Minkowky said.
Flanders is assigned to B Platoon on Tower 1 at Center Street Station.
Wescott is assigned to C Platoon on Tower 1 at Center Street Station.
Poremby is assigned to B Platoon on Engine 5 at Center Street Station
Harris is assigned to C Platoon on Engine 3 at Minot Avenue, Central Station.
