Auburn seniors plan Easter meal, parade

AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.

An Easter dinner will be served, with Lucien Marcoux as director and main chef, and members should bring their own cups. The dinner will consist of baked ham with pineapple and raisin sauce, whipped potatoes, glazed carrots, bread and butter and a light dessert.

Following the meeting and dinner, bingo will be played. Women are requested to create and wear their own version of the ideal Easter hat, not as a requirement, but to enter the “fun contest” for the Easter hat parade.

The group met March 22 under the direction of Merry Strout, president, with 61 in attendance. Doris Michael, trip chairwoman, has a trip scheduled for May 15 to Luciano’s, Lake Pearl, Wrentham, Mass.; cost $71. The trip is open to anyone wishing to go, and if interested people may contact Michael at Robin Dow Senior Citizens meetings or phone her at 782-6962.

Western Maine Transportation Service is providing trips for seniors on the second Friday of each month. The bus will leave Pettingill Park at 9 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. for a $5 fee, which includes the return ticket charge. Those going will be dropped off at the Maine Mall or the Christmas Tree Shop. Members who have not yet paid their 2006 dues must pay them before they can attend any social activity requiring a ticket. Lucy Cowles, membership chairwoman, will collect dues at the meetings.

Attendance prize winners were Mariette Timberlake and Charlotte Grant; pot of gold, Charlotte Grant, Alwin Strout and Caroline Chapman. Birthdays for March were acknowledged. Following the meeting and lunch, bingo was played.
