Aurele Blier


LEWISTON – Aurele Blier passed away April 25, at home with his wife and children at his side.

He was born in Frenchville, on July 26, 1911, to Joseph and Catherine (Ouellette) Blier. He went to school in Van Buren and graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1926. He married the love of his life, Rose Michaud on April 21, 1930. Together they had 12 children.

He worked for many years in the Van Buren area before moving to Dover-Foxcroft, then on down to the Lewiston-Auburn area. In 1953, he moved to Sabattus. He worked at several jobs in the area, the last 25 years of working was as treasurer of the Sabattus Credit Union. In 1968, he developed Blier’s Trailer Park in Sabattus, which is now known as Oak Hill Trailer Park.

Upon retiring, he and his wife traveled across the United States in their Winnebago, settling in Mesa, Ariz., for the winters and returning to their homestead in Sabattus for the summers.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 106 and the 4th degree Wallace Assembly. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and time in the outdoors as he was an avid golfer and loved working in the woods.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, of 76 years of Lewiston; 11 children, Geraldine and husband, Raymond Gagne, of Greene, Ernestine Boulay Larose of Lewiston, Aurele and his companion, Florence, of Litchfield, Andrew and his wife, Mary, of Lowell, Mass., Clarence and his wife, Jackie, of Madbury, N.H., Carroll and his wife, Claire, of Sanford, Jeannine and her husband, Roland Quintal, of Rollingsford, N.H., Eric and his wife, Carol, of Waterville, Roger and his companion, Claudette, of Saco, Cathy Blier of Lewiston and Martine and her husband, Don Cloutier, of Litchfield; 55 grandchildren; 128 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Bertha Bergeron of Brattleboro, Vt., Carroll and his wife, Lillian, of Nashua, N.H., Sister Anita Blier of Montreal, Geralda and her husband, Gerald, of Naugatuck, Conn., Roland and his wife, Priscilla, of Bridgeport, Conn., Cecile and her husband, Channel Bouchard, of Van Buren, Loretta and her husband, Don Fournier, of Bethpage, N.Y. and Gerald and his wife, Edwina, of Van Buren.

He was predeceased by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Mr and Mrs Frederick Michaud; a daughter, Joceline; three sons-in-law, Robert Boulay, Arthur Larose and Al Rodrigue; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Blier; four brothers, Rudolph, Albert, Joseph and Donat; and a sister, Catherine.
