LEWISTON – The Abused Women’s Advocacy Project is looking for a new executive director.
After one year in the position, Paula Paladino has left. Board President Susan Macomber cited “personal reasons.”
Macomber said on Tuesday that the job has been empty since last fall. Duties are being split between two staffers in the Lewiston office.
Paladino, who could not be reached for comment and is not in the phone book, was hired in September 2004 to take over for Chris Fenno.
A Lewiston native, she had worked for years for the Sisters of Charity Health Systems. She told a reporter that she spotted the opening in a help-wanted ad and was inspired to apply. “It was a challenge I couldn’t turn down,” she said.
AWAP has offices in western Maine and provides help and a hot line to domestic violence victims. Fenno headed the group for 12 years.
More information on the search for a replacement was not available Tuesday.
