AUBURN — Goodwill Industries of Northern New England is inviting shoppers and donors to the grand opening celebration of its new Auburn store and donation center on Thursday, March 3.
The celebration begins at 9 a.m. with a ribbon cutting and raffle for gift cards to Goodwill and local restaurants, Goodwill communications spokeswoman Michelle Smith said.
The new Auburn store is at 939 Turner St. While Goodwill promotes the use of used goods, this 16,740-square-foot building is new.
The new store will accept used computer equipment through the ReConnect computer recycling program. Since the program launched in 2009, Goodwill has recycled more than three million pounds of computers and related equipment.
Randy Finamore, senior vice president of retail, said the new location offers convenience and accessibility, is near a bus route and has plenty of parking.
The 10,600-square-foot retail space will allow ease of shopping with wider aisles, multiple dressing rooms and a greater selection of goods. There will also be a donation drive-through.
When the store opens, the hours will be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

i like goodwill
but i question spending over 5 mill on a new building when auburn has so many empty ones. plus that alot of money that could have actually gone to the poor.
