BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Community Center will offer a Babysitter’s Training Course on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 19 and 20.
The class will be taught by Deborah Ripley from Women in Balance, who has completed the requirements for Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Instructor. The classes are from 1 to 5 p.m. both days. Attendees will receive a certificate at the end of the course for the baby sitting class and also a certificate from the American Heart Association for the CPR and first aid, which Alison Ross, EMT, from United Ambulance will teach.
The class is for 11- to 14-year-old youths both male and female, to teach them leadership and safe and responsible babysitting, basic care, safety, safe play, and basic first aid including infant and child CPR.
The program is sponsored by the Bridgton Community Center with donations from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church for the teaching DVD, Deborah Ripley from Women in Balance for the baby dolls and supplies and United Ambulance Service for donating Alison Ross and CPR and first aid supplies.
The fee is $30, which covers the cost of the book, DVD and American Heart Association CPR certificate as well as other information that participants will be able to take home.
