HARPSWELL – The wedding of Heather Banester and Stephen Bassett was held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the historical Union Church in Harpswell, now run by the Harpswell Garden Club. The Rev. John Bassett, father of the bridegroom, officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Bassett is the daughter of Dawna-Jeanne and Arthur William Banester Jr. of Harpswell. Mr. Bassett is the son of Patricia and John Bassett of Turner.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Kayce Hunton of Litchfield, best friend, was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were college friends, Amanda Thomson, Lisa O’Hara and Stacy Leonard.
Jeremiah Wadsworth of Turner, best friend, performed the duties of best man, and ushers were Bret Buckley, high school friend, and Arthur William Banester III and Sean Banester, brothers of the bride.
A reception followed at the Banester residence in Harpswell, and photos were taken at the home of Patty Ames on the water at Wilson Cove in Harpswell. The couple honeymooned in Alaska, including Denali National Park and Kenai.
The bride is a graduate of Johnson State College in Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in health science and a minor in anthropology/sociology. She is employed as executive coordinator at the Employment Times in Auburn.
The bridegroom attended the University of Vermont and is founder and owner of Bassett Custom Home Builders Inc.
