Baptist Church to celebrate global outreach


MEXICO – Mexico First Baptist Church, located at 20 Roxbury Road, will host a Global Outreach Celebration Thursday through Sunday, May 4 to 7, emphasizing the theme, “Reaching Our Samaria.”

The church will have special services with missionaries speaking, representing mission outreaches from all over the United States. Activities will begin with a service at 6 p.m. Thursday with Dr. Pat Davis of Wycliffe Bible Translators speaking. She is working with the International Literacy Office, traveling around the world as a roving consultant to make recommendations on literacy programs and textbook development.

On Friday night, activities will begin with a potluck meal at the church at 5 p.m., where people can meet some of the church’s supported missionaries. The service will begin at 6:30, when Winfield Holman will speak. He is a pastor and Christian camp speaker from Pennsylvania, working with Bible-Centered Ministries International.

On Saturday there will be a special brunch for women at 11 a.m. when Davis will share again.

A service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday when Walter and Joy Bowles, also missionaries from Wycliffe, will discuss their work. They are serving in Waxhaw, N.C., with JAARS, the transportation arm of Wycliffe.

The global outreach celebration will conclude on Sunday morning with Jerry Vanderveen, regional director of Gospel Mission of South America, sharing his testimony during the Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and the worship at 10:30.
