Barbara A. Brown


LEWISTON – Barbara A. Brown, 75, a resident of Oxford, died peacefully Thursday evening at Central Maine Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Franklin, N.H., Dec. 7, 1931, the daughter of Leon and Selina (Lepage) Blake. She moved to Maine at a young age and was educated in the Fryeburg schools. She married Roy E. Brown on Dec. 26, 1957. They both raised a family, and were long-time residents of Poland Spring before moving to Oxford.

She was employed at the Sarah Frye Home for 12 years where she was a devoted employee who took pride in caring for her residents.

Survivors include one son, Christopher Brown and his wife, Carol, of Poland; three daughters, Tammy Giasson and her companion, John Cedergren, of Auburn, Sandra Cadwell and her husband, Timothy, of Auburn, and Brenda Ouellette and her husband, Peter, of Minot; two brothers, Karl, Blake of Anson, and Leon Blake and his wife, Flora, of Oxford. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roy E. Brown; one brother, Leonard Blake; and one sister, Marion “Dolly” Blake.
