LEWISTON – Kristen Masino allowed two unearned runs in two games to lead Bates to a doubleheader sweep over Bowdoin, 3-1 and 8-1.
Bates’ Katie Franklin homered in the first game, and went 4-for-7 overall, with a pair of RBIs. Stacia Saniuk hit a homer in the nightcap, and drove in three runs, while Kyla Decato went 5-for-7 in the two games with three RBIs.
Colby 6, Thomas 2
WATERVILLE – Lauren Olmsted pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run, striking out five and walking three, as Colby topped Thomas 6-2.
USM sweeps Plymouth St.
GORHAM – Evon Hudspeths’ walk-off double delivered Southern Maine to a a 1-0 win over Plymouth State.
The Huskies won the second game, 8-5, on a solid pitching effort by Bree Loon.
St. Joseph’s 3, Husson 1
BANGOR – St. Joseph’s topped Husson 3-1 in the first game of what was supposed to be a doubleheader, before game two was cancelled due to poor weather.
USM 16, Bates 2
GORHAM – Nick Vardaro had four hits and three RBIs as Southern Maine posted a 16-2 win over Bates.
Erik Hood plated the first run for Bates’ (9-13) on a fielders’ choice, and Ben Thayer walked with the bases loaded to force in the second run.
Maine 11, Colby 4
ORONO – Relief pitcher Mitchell Clegg came in during the fourth inning and pitched six scoreless innings, allowing Maine to capture the 11-4 win over Colby in baseball action Tuesday evening.
Matt McGraw and Danny Menendez each had two hits, which included a single and a double for both, for the Black Bears (23-11-1). Ryan Quintal hit the only triple of the contest.
Colby, who falls to 8-17, was paced by repeat hitters Tom Salemy and Rodney Ames.
GORHAM – Caddy Brooks and Time Brown each scored three goals to give Colby a 15-1 victory over Souther Maine Tuesday. Troy Lieberman and Ryan Scott each added two scores for the Mules (6-7)
Southern Maine (2-9) got it’s lone score from Zach Fermanis.
