ROANOKE, Va. — Benoit Caya, 88, of Roanoke, Va., died Feb. 19, at Friendship Manor.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., June 4, 1923, the son of Herve and Rose Caya. He enjoyed going for drives, watching the History Channel on television, tinkering and working around the house and spending time with his grandchildren.
He worked at General Electric in Auburn, until his retirement in 1985. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 381st Airborne Bombardment in Ridgewill, England.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Twyla Virginia Caya; daughter, Mrs. Bert (Sharon) Lavoie; stepdaughters, Mrs. Rick (Sandra) Jalbert, Mrs. Ron (Michele) Vachon, Mrs. Steve (Janelle) Mathieu, Mrs. Ted (Kathy) Edwards and Mrs. Dan (Barbara) Bledsoe; stepson, Melvin Wilton; 23 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by daughter, Susan Caya; and stepson, Michael Wilson.
