LEWISTON – Bernard Feldman, 88, of 74 Lake Auburn Ave., Auburn died peacefully on May 8, at Central Maine Medical Center with his family at his side due to complications from a recent surgery.

He was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Boston, to the former Ida Goodman and her husband, Morris Feldman. Bernie graduated from Boston Latin High School for Boys and married the love of his life Ann LaFleur in 1942. Soon after having their first son Howard they moved to Auburn and had there second son Lee Jay who grew up skiing in the area.

He worked 27 years for the Farmington, Livermore and Rumford Shoe Co. until he retired in 1983. After retirement, he became the primary caregiver to his wife, but enjoyed going to watch his grandsons play hockey and soccer throughout their school years. In more recent times he enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots, Tiger Woods and hanging out at some of the local spots such as Emerson Toyota, Bagels and Things and Republic Coin and all of those other places he would show up.

The family would like to thank everybody who befriended him along the way especially Eddie Laine, The Residents of 74 Lake Auburn Townhouse,Temple Shalom Synagogue, and his most recent friend and caregiver ZamZam.

He is survived by two sons, Howard Feldman and his wife, Helen, Lee Jay Feldman and his wife, Janet, both of Auburn; three grandsons, Lane Feldman and his wife, Anna, of Auburn, Adam Feldman of Northfield, Vt. and Scott Feldman and his wife, Dawn, of Auburn; one great-grandson, Benjamin Feldman; one sister, Harriett Goldman of Boston; and three brothers, Louis, Jimmy and Edward, all of the Boston area.

He was predeceased by one brother, Fred; and his loving wife, Ann, of 62 years of which he was very proud.
