Bertha M. Grimmel

OCALA, Fla. – Bertha “Bertie” M. Plante Grimmel, 74, of Ocala, died Dec. 25, at Hospice Legacy House.

She was born June 5, 1932, in Caribou, to Phillippe and Josephine Bolduc Plante. She grew up most of her life in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School in June 1950, and marrying Paul Peter Grimmel in September 1950.

Bertie was owner/operator of Bertie’s Beauty Salon in Maine, and in Marion Oaks for many years before retiring in 1997. She was the life of a party before the sparkle left her eyes upon the death of her beloved husband, Paul, in June 1992. Her favorite party question still rings loud and clear, “is everybody happy?”, she would say and the people around her would come alive with merriment.

Surviving is her daughter, Sandy Grimmel, of Ocala, Fla.; her sisters, Claire Ouellette of Lewiston and Rose Cote of Rochester, N.Y.; and many loving nieces and nephews scattered throughout the USA, Hawaii, and Canada.

She was predeceased by her son, Marc; and her husband, Paul.
