SARASOTA, Fla. — Bertrand P. Marquis, 71, of Sarasota, Fla., and Lisbon, passed away peacefully on March 29, of complications associated with kidney cancer, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Ste. Agathe, July 5, 1938; the son of Philemon Marquis and Priscille (Martin) Marquis Dubois and the stepson of Willard Dubois. On June 7, 1958, he married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Parent. He attended Lewiston schools and achieved his GED in 1997.
He was a well-known hand sewer and worked in many area shoe factories, retiring from LL Bean in 1995. He and his wife, Dorothy (Dot) raised three children and resided in Lewiston most of their life. They were snowbirds for the past 12 years and spent their winters in Sarasota, Fla., and summers in Lisbon.
He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan and enjoyed watching the games. He also enjoyed having people visit and spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Dot; his mother, Priscille Dubois of Lewiston; his son, Bert and his companion, Brenda Wilkins, and her son, Brian, of Merrimack, N.H.; his daughter, Diane Maltby and her husband, Miles, of Lewiston; his daughter, Connie Bickford and her husband, Don, of Bradenton, Fla.; his grandsons, Navy Airman Joshua Bickford of Jacksonville, Fla., and Dylan Bickford of Bradenton, Fla., all whom will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his father; his stepfather; and many aunts and uncles.
