I am writing in support of the re-election of Androscoggin County Sheriff Guy Desjardins.
During the past several months, there has been controversy about the handling of an incident of horseplay at the jail that resulted in the swift firing of a staff member. Perhaps the union felt it should have been more involved in the firing. However, I believe the sheriff did the right thing. Corrections officers engaged in bullying put everyone at risk. Desjardins acted swiftly to correct the situation and restore order to the jail.
In my book, that’s called leadership.
Leadership is what is needed if ongoing problems at the jail and with the county commission are ever to be solved.
It is in our best interest to re-elect Sheriff Guy Desjardins.
