As an engineer, surveyor and amateur historian, I read Scott Taylor’s front page article March 19 about the newly discovered George Barron plat with interest.
He has, however, significantly underestimated the size of the map.
In all likelihood it is nowhere near “10 square feet,” which would make it about the size of an average desk. I suspect he meant to write “10 feet square,” a phrase that not only indicates its area but also its shape.
