Betty D. James


FARMINGTON – Betty D. James, 81, of Wilton, died Wednesday afternoon, July 1, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington, after a lingering illness.

She was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Eustis, a daughter of Mark and Alice (Durrell) Daggett. On March 10, 1956, she married Robert James Sr., of Auburn. They moved to Wilton in 1960.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed by G.H. Bass Shoe for about 12 years. She was a member of Wilson Grange, Pomona and State Grange. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her many friends at Wilton Senior Housing and attending bean suppers with them.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert “Bob” of Wilton; one son, Robert James Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Strong; one daughter, Brenda Lebel and her husband, Jim, of Sebago; one grandson, Marc James and his friend, Sabrina, of Baker Hill, Salem; a sister, Bessie Corson; and a niece, Joan Corson, both of Kingfield; and two nephews, Garnald Hewey of Connecticut, and Joe Hewey of Cornfield.
