Beverly J. Rawson


1933 – 2015

MADISON — Beverly “Bev” J. Rawson, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center in Madison.

Beverly was born March 13, 1933, in Auburn to Albro C. Sr. and Eva M. (House) Pratt. She graduated from Edward Little High School in the Class of 1951. Beverly worked in Lewiston as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Company.

On Mother’s Day in 1955, she met Clark Eugene Rawson while visiting her sister in California; Bev and Clark married on Dec. 31 of that year in Covina, Calif. During almost 60 years of marriage, they traveled and lived in several states in the U.S., as well as overseas and eventually settling in Maine. Beverly had purchased a home in New Portland in 1976 and the family moved there in 1978. They have been residents of Anson since 1990.

Beverly will be remembered for her abiding trust in her savior Jesus Christ and how she loved to study the scriptures. She had been singing to the glory of God from a young age. She was a member of the Gideons Ladies Auxiliary and of the First Congregational Church of North Anson. Beverly also volunteered at the People Who Care Food Cupboard in Madison.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Clark Rawson of Anson; her children, Rebecca “Becky” Anderson of Edgewater, Fla., Steven “Steve” Rawson and his wife, Diane, of Winslow, Eva Marie Davis and her husband, David, of Abingdon, Md., Melissa “Lisa” Spinney and her husband, Clayton II, of Jefferson, and Charles “Chuck” Rawson of Anson; her grandchildren, Andrew Rawson, Eli and Ethan Saville, and Rhiannon B. Davis; and three sisters, Dorothy Merrill, Glennice Cline and Gladys Lamare.

She was predeceased by 13 siblings.
