Bible expositor to speak at area churches


SOUTH PARIS — Dr. Delma O. Lowery, Bible expositor of Newton, Ill., will conduct several seminars in Maine during April.

Lowery will begin in the area at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 18, with the adult Sunday School class at Grace Baptist Church, formerly Paris Hill Bible Church, 398 Paris Hill Road, 743-6695. He will also speak at the 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. services. His wife, Edna Lee, will teach children, age 5 through grade four, while her husband is speaking.

On Monday and Tuesday, April 19 and 20, Lowery will speak at 6:30 p.m. at the Webbs Mills Baptist Church, Route 85, Casco, 774-1630 or 539-8111.

Beginning on Sunday, April 25 through Friday, April 30, Lowery will speak at Marston’s Corner Baptist Church, 752 Beech Hill Road, Auburn, 783-0407.

Lowery has been in the ministry since 1957, taught Bible and psychology at Memphis Baptist College, served as dean of men and Bible instructor at Trinity College and for eight years taught Bible exposition and theology as a guest instructor in the summer graduate program at Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Fla.

Having received the Th.M. and Th.D. degrees from Trinity, Lowery entered a full-time Bible conference ministry in May 1973, under the sponsorship of the Missouri Avenue Baptist Church in Clearwater, Fla. Having ministered as a pastor, writer, educator and Bible expositor, Lowery has traveled in 48 adjacent states, nine of the 10 provinces of Canada, Jamaica and Mexico. He has also built an Expositors Bible Center in Newton, Ill., where he has held seminars to teach others how to understand and give a literal contextual exposition of a book of the Bible.


He is the author of articles for newspapers and Christian periodicals in addition to his book, “Building Steadfast Christians,” and a booklet on “How I Defeated Prostate Cancer.” In 1985, he was listed in “Who’s Who in the World of Religion.”
