Black Fly Festival celebrates season

RANGELEY – A Black Fly Festival will celebrate the changing of the seasons from black flies to flowers on Sunday, June 25, with a day of family and kids activities, arts, crafts, food and music, capped off with an evening comedy show by the Maine Hysterical Society at 7 p.m. at the Club House Restaurant.

A few booth spaces (10×10 for $25) are still available to artists, crafters and appropriate vendors.

Activities already planned for the day include a treasure hunt with prizes for all who complete the course, and a mountain bike race suitable for family participation with prizes. Other events are being developed.

All proceeds will benefit the building fund for a permanent lodge for the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center.

The center, operated and maintained by the Rangeley Lakes Cross County Ski Club Inc., is an extensive network of trails on lower Saddleback Mountain that is dedicated to nonmotorized, year-round sport and recreational use for all who properly access its trails and facilities.
