Blanche A. Wright
1920 – 2010
LEWISTON — Blanche Amy Wright, 89, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 14, at 11 p.m. at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Lewiston, May 15, 1920, daughter of James and Eva (Goulet) Auger. She worked at Bates Textile Mill a number of years and also at the shipyard and local social clubs.
She was one of the first women to sing on the local television station “The Ken Mckenzie Show.” She yodeled and sang with the Betty Sisters and Hal Lone Pine. She loved country and western music and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by nine children, Richard J. Caron and wife, Arline, of Bangor, Pauline St. Jean and husband, Jacques, of Lewiston, Sandra Lee Monier and husband, Paul, of Greene, Ronald B. Couture of Lewiston, Michael D. Couture of Auburn, Dolores Peirce of Auburn, Diane Keene and husband, David, of Baltimore, Md., Louise Fournier and husband, Maurice, of Bingham and Jeannette Wright of Lewiston; three sisters, Simone O’Brien of Augusta, Irene Boisvert of Lewiston and Anita Marshall of Utica, N.Y.; 22 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Romeo, Roland and Lucien; and five sisters, Marguerite, Lucille, Olivette, Muriel and Jeanette.
She loved to live and lived to love her family, music and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten.
