Board gives nod to Tuell Town Road work

WEST PARIS – Beginning budget deliberations Thursday, selectmen decided to take plans for one major road project to voters for next summer.

They’ll be asked to OK adding gravel, re-grading and re-paving Tuell Town Road.

Other projects under consideration included the gravel section of Stearns Hill Road and a short section of Curtis Hill. Selectmen decided more study needs to be done regarding those projects.

Town Manager and Road Commissioner Donald Woodbury said the Tuell Town project has an estimated cost of $150,900 and is a high priority due to the volume off traffic and number of homes along the road.

Also, it was decided to hold the first budget meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday. Budget negotiations will run through mid to late January followed by the annual public budget hearing by the end of the month.

The annual town meeting is held the first Saturday in March and town reports need to be printed and distributed as early in February as possible.

Thursday’s budget meeting is open to the public.
